She started in the call centre but quickly advanced to the marketing department where her role included attending conferences and exhibitions while showcasing the tunnel and its tourism opportunities to journalists. Later, the family shifted across the channel to England where Joanna’s ability to speak both fluent French and English secured her a job working at Eurotunnel. There were trips to Spain, Italy and even a school exchange to Germany. With a French father and English mother, Joanna grew up north of Paris and spent her childhood years enjoying the easy travel that comes with living in the heart of Europe. It’s also a world away from her previous job putting her English and French bilingual skills to good use in the marketing department of the Channel Tunnel.īut Joanna notes she’s travelled her whole life, so settling on the other side of the world after finding love was always within the realm of possibility.
